Eyal Golsa Bids Farewell to Maccabi Tel Aviv after a Decade of Success
Maccabi Tel Aviv has announced the departure of long-time midfielder Eyal Golsa, who leaves the club after eight distinguished seasons filled with numerous accolades. The 32-year-old, who joined the club in 2016, has been a pivotal player, participating in 240 matches across all formats and scoring 13 goals. Golsa's tenure at Maccabi Tel Aviv has seen him win 10 titles, including 3 championships, 1 State Cup, 4 Toto Cups, and 2 Champion of Champions titles.
Golsa initially joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2016 and quickly integrated into the team, making his debut in the Europa League qualifiers against Kairat Almaty. During his stint, Golsa also represented Maccabi in 48 European matches and was instrumental in the club’s qualification to the last 32 of the Europa League in the 2020/21 season and the round of 16 of the Conference League in the 2023/24 season.
In his farewell message, Golsa expressed profound gratitude toward the club and its supporters. On Maccabi's official website, he stated, 'When I arrived at Maccabi 8 years ago, I couldn't believe how quickly I was accepted as if I were a home player. Kiryat Shalom truly became a home, and the experiences and friendships I made will accompany me for life.'
Beitar Jerusalem and The Path Forward for Golsa
As Golsa departs Maccabi Tel Aviv, Beitar Jerusalem has expressed significant interest in acquiring his talents. While negotiations have not formally begun, it is expected that Beitar will offer Golsa a two-year contract valued at around $120,000 per season. Beitar's coach, Barak Itzhaki, holds Golsa in high regard, having previously played and worked with him in various capacities at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Eyal Golsa now faces the crucial decision of where to continue his career. While Beitar Jerusalem appears as a strong contender, other teams may also enter the fray. Golsa's decision will be closely watched as the 2024/25 season approaches.
