Arrest Warrant Issued for Evo Morales Amid Human Trafficking Allegations
Former Bolivian President Evo Morales is facing serious legal troubles as an arrest warrant has been issued for his testimony in a case involving allegations of human trafficking and statutory rape. The warrant was announced by Bolivian prosecutor Sandra Gutiérrez, who stated that Morales and other suspects have been duly notified and that their rights have not been violated in the process. Morales, who served as president from 2006 to 2019, was supposed to appear before the authorities in Tarija but failed to do so, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.
The investigation centers around accusations that Morales had a relationship with a minor who was involved in a youth group he established during his presidency, known as Generación Evo. Reports indicate that the minor was only 15 years old at the time of the alleged relationship, and it is claimed that Morales fathered a child with her. The prosecutor emphasized that the legal proceedings are being conducted transparently and in accordance with the law, despite claims from Morales' defense that the case should be heard in Cochabamba, where the former president resides.
Social organizations that support Morales have threatened to initiate national roadblocks in response to the arrest warrant, framing the legal actions against him as politically motivated. Morales himself has described the situation as a
