Escalation of Conflict in Northern Gaza
The ongoing conflict in northern Gaza has intensified as the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli military assets. On October 26, 2024, the group reported that it used two “Shawaz” bombs and a “Yassin 105” shell to strike two Israeli vehicles east of Jabalia. Additionally, they detonated a booby-trapped house housing Israeli soldiers, resulting in casualties among the troops.
Israeli Military Response
In retaliation, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the deaths of three soldiers during clashes in northern Gaza. The IDF stated that its 252nd Division is actively engaged in operations aimed at neutralizing militants and dismantling military infrastructure within the region. Airstrikes were conducted against observation posts and weapons warehouses, with claims of destroying military assets in Rafah, including platforms for launching RPGs.
Drone Warfare and Intelligence Operations
The Al-Quds Brigades, affiliated with the Islamic Jihad Movement, reported a significant achievement by downing two Israeli Quadcopter drones that were conducting intelligence missions over northern Gaza and Gaza City. This development highlights the increasing use of drone technology in the ongoing conflict, raising concerns over surveillance and military strategy on both sides.
