Ongoing Violence in the West Bank: Eight Palestinians Injured
On October 18, 2024, eight Palestinians were injured amid escalating tensions in the occupied West Bank due to ongoing attacks by the Israeli occupation army and settlers. The violence unfolded in several locations, highlighting the severe impact of the Israeli military operations and settler aggression on Palestinian communities.
In Beit Furik, a village east of Nablus, five Palestinians sustained injuries from live ammunition during confrontations with Israeli soldiers who stormed the area. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that its teams treated these individuals, who were subsequently transported to a hospital for further care. Additionally, disturbing footage emerged showing Israeli soldiers physically assaulting a Palestinian child, raising concerns about the treatment of civilians by military personnel.
In Al-Arroub camp, located north of Hebron, two children were injured by gunfire during clashes that erupted as Israeli forces entered the camp. One child suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron for urgent medical attention.
In a separate incident in Yasuf, east of Salfit, a Palestinian farmer was injured when settlers attacked olive pickers. Wael Abu Madi, the head of the Yasuf village council, reported that settlers from the Tapuah settlement targeted farmers, resulting in one individual being struck in the head by a stone. Abu Madi emphasized the ongoing threat posed by settlers during the olive harvest season, which typically sees an increase in violence against Palestinian farmers.
The situation in the West Bank has intensified in parallel with the ongoing conflict in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023. Since then, Israeli operations have expanded, leading to a staggering toll of 756 Palestinians killed and approximately 6,250 injured across the region.
