Three Palestinian Children Injured in Nablus Amid Clashes
In the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus, three Palestinian children were shot by Israeli occupation forces during clashes that erupted as the army stormed the area. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, a 14-year-old boy suffered a foot injury, another 14-year-old was shot in the thigh, and a 16-year-old sustained a foot injury from live ammunition. This incident reflects the ongoing tensions in the West Bank, particularly since the escalation of violence that began on October 7, 2023.
Suppression of Olive Harvesting in Ramallah
In a related development, Palestinian farmers and activists were prevented from accessing their lands to pick olives in the village of Burqa, located east of Ramallah. Despite calls from various organizations to support the olive harvest, Israeli forces claimed the area was adjacent to the Oz Etzion settlement outpost, effectively barring entry. Sayel Kanaan, head of the Burqa village council, reported that settlers have been consistently attacking farmers, including setting fire to agricultural lands and threatening their livelihoods. The village has seen significant unrest since the beginning of October, with settlers conducting over 70 attacks on olive pickers in the West Bank since the start of the olive season.
Rising Tensions and Arrests in the West Bank
The Israeli military has also intensified its operations in the West Bank, leading to the arrest of at least 30 Palestinians in the past 48 hours across various cities, including Hebron, Nablus, and Jericho. The Palestinian Prisoners Club reported that since the onset of the recent conflict, over 11,300 Palestinians have been detained from the West Bank, including Jerusalem. The ongoing violence has resulted in widespread destruction, with reports of 759 Palestinians killed and approximately 6,250 injured since the escalation began. The situation remains dire, with calls for international intervention to address the humanitarian crisis.
