Two Palestinian Children Injured Amid Ongoing Clashes in the West Bank
In a troubling escalation of violence in the West Bank, two Palestinian children were injured by Israeli army gunfire during clashes in Beit Furik on Sunday evening. According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, a 15-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and shrapnel injuries to his back, while a 16-year-old boy was also shot in the back. The situation in the region remains tense as the Israeli army continues its operations against Palestinian communities.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club reported that Israeli forces arrested at least 30 Palestinians in just 48 hours, with operations concentrated in Hebron, Bethlehem, Nablus, and Jenin. These arrests are part of a broader pattern of raids and abuses against Palestinian families, which have intensified since the onset of violence on October 7, 2023. Official reports indicate that since this date, 751 Palestinians have been killed, approximately 6,250 have been injured, and over 11,200 have been arrested, highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.
Rising Concerns Over Palestinian Detainees' Conditions
In addition to the violence, Palestinian institutions monitoring the welfare of detainees in Israeli prisons have announced the death of 37-year-old Muhammad Munir Musa in an Israeli hospital. Musa, who had been detained since April 2023 and suffered from diabetes, is the 41st Palestinian to die while in custody since October 7, marking a historical high in such cases. The Palestinian Authority has condemned these developments, accusing Israel of enacting revenge against Palestinians following the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation by Palestinian resistance groups. The ongoing violations by the Israeli army and settlers continue to exacerbate the humanitarian situation, raising urgent calls for international intervention.
