Ronaldo Reflects on Career Milestones and Future Aspirations
Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Saudi club Al-Nassr, recently addressed his pursuit of the 1,000-goal milestone during a ceremony where he received the prestigious "Platinum Quinas" award from the Portuguese Football Federation. As he approaches his 40th birthday, Ronaldo acknowledged the possibility of not reaching this historic goal, stating, "I live my life day by day, I can no longer think long term."
Ronaldo, who has scored 908 goals to date, emphasized the importance of living in the moment and enjoying his remaining years in football. He noted that while he had previously expressed a desire to retire only after reaching 1,000 goals, he now understands that retirement may come before that milestone. Despite this, he remains the all-time leading goal scorer in football history, surpassing Lionel Messi's tally of 850 goals.
During the ceremony, Ronaldo reflected on his pride in representing the Portuguese national team, stating, "Even after winning so many titles, there is nothing better than playing for the national team; representing your country, your culture, and your friends." He expressed gratitude for the award and the journey he has had with the national team, which has included 216 matches.
Ronaldo's career has been marked by numerous achievements, and he remains a significant figure in football, continuing to score goals for Al-Nassr this season. His recent performance includes 10 goals, showcasing that he still has the ability to compete at a high level as he nears the end of his illustrious career.
