Investigation into Lina's Disappearance Takes a Shocking Turn
The case of Lina, a 15-year-old girl who vanished nearly a year ago from Alsace, has taken a significant turn following the latest revelations from the Strasbourg public prosecutor. Alexandre Chevrier confirmed that DNA evidence linking Lina to Samuel Gonin, the main suspect who committed suicide in July, has been found on ropes located in the trunk of a stolen vehicle. This disturbing evidence suggests that Lina was likely tied up at some point during her disappearance.
Lina disappeared on September 23, 2023, while on her way to meet her boyfriend in Strasbourg. Her last known location was near the train station in Plaine, Bas-Rhin, but despite extensive searches, her body has never been recovered. The breakthrough in the investigation came on July 26, when investigators announced that Lina's DNA was discovered in a light gray Ford Puma, which had been reported stolen and found in the south of France.
The Ongoing Search for Answers
According to Prosecutor Chevrier, the DNA evidence was found on various parts of the vehicle, including the rear seats and seat belts. Additionally, Lina's personal belongings were located in the glove compartment of the car, but there were no signs of blood, and her mobile phone remains missing. The investigation has been challenging, particularly due to Gonin's death, which has left many questions unanswered regarding his connection to Lina and his activities on the day she disappeared.
Despite these challenges, Chevrier assured the public that the investigation remains active, with over 400 interviews conducted and searches of 300 vehicles completed. Significant resources continue to be mobilized in hopes of uncovering more evidence or locating Lina's body. The prosecutor emphasized the commitment to finding the truth, stating, "There is no question of giving up."
