Argentine Court Approves Transfer of Diego Maradona's Body to Memorial in Puerto Madero
In a significant ruling, the Argentine justice system has authorized the transfer of Diego Maradona's remains from the Jardín de Bella Vista cemetery to a new mausoleum in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires. This decision comes as a pivotal step towards the establishment of the 'Memorial M10', which aims to honor the legacy of Argentina's football icon, who passed away in 2020. The court's resolution, issued by the San Isidro Court No. 3, highlighted that there was no opposition from any parties regarding the transfer, allowing Maradona's children to proceed with their plans for a tribute that will be accessible to the public.
The proposed mausoleum will be located in a prominent area known as the Explanada del Bajo, easily reachable from Plaza de Mayo. Maradona's children expressed that this new resting place would be

safeguarded and closer to the Argentine people.
The construction of the Memorial is expected to be completed by 2025, coinciding with the highly anticipated trial regarding the circumstances of Maradona's death, set for March 2025. This trial will address allegations of negligence against several medical practitioners involved in his care prior to his passing. Maradona died at the age of 60 from a cardio-respiratory crisis, and the court has classified the case as 'homicide with eventual intent', indicating potential criminal negligence.
Maradona's legacy as a football legend and cultural icon continues to resonate deeply within Argentina and around the world. The decision to create a mausoleum not only reflects the wishes of his family but also the desire of millions of fans to pay their respects in a dignified setting. The Memorial M10 is envisioned as a site where fans can gather to celebrate the life and achievements of Maradona, ensuring that his memory endures for future generations.
