Neymar Suffers Injury Just Weeks After Return to Football
Neymar Jr., the Brazilian football star, has left fans and officials at his Saudi club Al Hilal concerned after suffering a thigh injury during an Asian Champions League match against Iranian side Esteghlal. The 32-year-old forward, who had only recently returned to competitive play after a lengthy absence due to a serious knee injury, was substituted in the 86th minute after feeling discomfort in his right thigh. This incident marks a worrying moment for the player, who had only made his comeback just two weeks prior.
During the match, Neymar came on as a substitute in the 58th minute, with Al Hilal already leading 2-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. However, shortly after his introduction, Neymar was seen holding his thigh and subsequently received treatment on the sidelines before being replaced. Following the match, Neymar took to Instagram to reassure his fans, stating, "I had a cramp, but it was very strong. I'm going to have tests and I hope it's nothing more. It's normal for this to happen after a year, the doctors had already warned me, that's why I have to be careful and have more minutes to play."
Despite the injury not appearing to be serious, it could sideline him for a few more days. Al Hilal's coach, Jorge Jesus, commented on the situation, noting that Neymar's injury is likely muscular and not related to his previous knee issues. He anticipates that Neymar may need at least two weeks before returning to the pitch.
