Al Jazeera Condemns Israel's Refusal to Evacuate Injured Cameramen
Al Jazeera Media Network has issued a strong condemnation regarding the Israeli authorities' refusal to evacuate two of its injured cameramen, Fadi Al-Wahidi and Ali Al-Attar, from Gaza. The network described this refusal as a blatant act of negligence that could lead to the deliberate endangerment of their lives. The medical team monitoring their conditions has expressed grave concerns about the deterioration of their health, warning that without urgent evacuation, complications could prove fatal.
Health Deterioration of Al Jazeera Cameramen
Fadi Al-Wahidi was shot while covering events in Jabalia camp on October 9, 2024, resulting in paralysis and severe complications affecting his nervous and respiratory systems. Meanwhile, Ali Al-Attar sustained serious injuries in Deir al-Balah, leading to internal bleeding in the brain and convulsions. Al-Wahidi's condition has worsened, and he has fallen into a coma, prompting doctors to stress the necessity of immediate medical intervention abroad.
Calls for Action from International Organizations
In light of these developments, three international organizations have urged Israel to permit the evacuation of Al-Wahidi and Al-Attar for necessary medical treatment. The Committee to Protect Journalists has reported a lack of response from Israeli authorities regarding the requests for the two journalists' release. Al Jazeera holds the Israeli authorities fully accountable for the safety of its crew members operating in the Gaza Strip and is calling for immediate action to ensure their rescue.
