Today, Wednesday, marks 10 months since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, leading to the martyrdom, injury, and displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. The situation remains dire, with many still buried under the rubble of demolished homes. The European Palestinian Information Center (EPAL) has documented over 22,000 demonstrations across 600 cities in 20 European countries since the onset of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, showcasing the sustained support for the Palestinian cause.
The continuous demonstrations reflect a strong commitment among advocates for Palestinian rights, driven by the ongoing Israeli aggression and the lack of international accountability. Raed Al-Salahat, Executive Director of the European Media Center (EBAL), noted that the heartbreaking imagery of violence and suffering has mobilized a diverse coalition of supporters, including many Europeans who feel a moral obligation to speak out against injustice.
Significantly, there is a noticeable shift in public perception in Europe regarding the Palestinian cause. Ali Shteiwi from the European Network for Defending the Rights of Palestinian Refugees highlighted that in cities like Berlin, many demonstrators are of German origin, indicating a growing awareness and support for Palestinian rights. This change is not only evident in public demonstrations but is also influencing political discourse, with the Palestinian issue becoming a prominent topic in various electoral platforms across Europe.
