US Imposes Sanctions on Israeli Extremist Groups and Leaders
In a significant move, the US Treasury Ministry announced today (Thursday) the imposition of sanctions on several Israeli extremist groups and individuals, including the Lahava organization and Reut Ben Haim, a founder of the Order 9 organization. The sanctions also extend to settlers Issachar Man and Aviad Shlomo Sharid.
Reut Ben Haim reported that her credit card and Paybox account were blocked shortly after the sanctions were announced. The US government's measures also targeted illegal outposts such as Miter Farms, Neria's Farm, and Men Farms. Sanctions had previously been imposed on the Order 9 organization, which is known for blocking aid trucks to Gaza during the conflict.
The Lahava organization, in response to the sanctions, criticized the US President, calling him 'senile and anti-Semitic.' They stated that the sanctions would not deter their activities aimed at 'saving the daughters of Israel.' Similarly, the Order 9 movement defended their actions as lawful democratic protests against aid going directly to Hamas. They condemned the sanctions as anti-democratic and an intervention against Israeli citizens, including families of abductees and bereaved families.
The US State Department elaborated on the sanctions, highlighting the violent activities of these groups. They noted that Lahava, linked to Benzi Gofstein, has become one of the most extreme and violent organizations in Israel with over ten thousand members involved in attacks against Palestinians. Issachar Man was specifically mentioned for his role in violent actions against Palestinians in the West Bank and for establishing an outpost on Palestinian lands in the south of Mount Hebron.
The sanctions against Reut Ben Haim and Aviad Shlomo Sharid were attributed to their leadership roles in the Order 9 organization, which has been active in blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza. The US government emphasized that these measures are part of a broader effort to curb extremism and violence in the region.
