Paris Olympics 2024: RATP Introduces New Transport Pass for Visitors
As the countdown to the 2024 Paris Olympics begins, RATP is gearing up to accommodate the influx of tourists and spectators with its new transport offering, the "Paris 2024" pass. Starting this Saturday, visitors can purchase this pass, which allows unlimited travel on all public transport lines, including direct access to Orly and Roissy airports. Prices for the pass range from 16 euros for a single day to 70 euros for a week, providing a flexible option for attendees of the Olympic events. This special pass replaces the regular Navigo week and day tickets, which will be suspended during this period.
Price Increases for Other Transport Tickets
In addition to the new Paris 2024 pass, RATP will also implement significant price increases on other transport tickets from Saturday until September 8. The cost of the t+ ticket, which covers Metro, bus, and RER intramural travel, will rise from 2.15 euros to 4 euros. This decision is part of a strategy by Île-de-France Mobilités to enhance transport services by about 15% during the Olympic season while ensuring that local residents are not burdened with debt linked to the games.
Germany's Strong Representation at the Paris Olympics
Germany is set to make a powerful showing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) nominating a substantial contingent of 427 athletes. This marks a significant turnout, especially considering that the country aims to secure a top 10 finish in the medal standings. The athletes come from various sports, including badminton, basketball, judo, and athletics, showcasing Germany's diverse talent. The DOSB is optimistic, drawing on its previous success in Tokyo, where it finished ninth with a total of 37 medals.
- The Paris 2024 pass is designed specifically for the Olympic period, highlighting the importance of efficient transport for both tourists and local residents. Visitors can load the pass onto a smartphone or a Navigo Easy pass, ensuring easy access to the transport network. It's worth noting that the pass is non-refundable in case of loss, so travelers should take care to keep it secure. Meanwhile, Germany's Olympic team will feature a mix of seasoned athletes and fresh talent, with many medal contenders aiming to replicate or improve upon their performances from previous Olympic Games. The DOSB has expressed confidence in its athletes' abilities and is keen to build on the momentum gained from past competitions.
