Ukraine's Escalating Offensive Against Russia and Western Support
In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified its strategy against Russia by increasingly targeting Russian aircraft, marking a significant phase in the ongoing conflict. According to reports from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Ukraine successfully shot down nine Russian military aircraft in May. An especially striking victory came on June 9, when Ukrainian troops reportedly damaged or possibly destroyed two Russian Su-57 stealth fighter jets during a drone attack on the Akhtubinsk airfield in Astrakhan, Southern Russia.
Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine, announced on Ukrainian television that the attack had drawn a severe reaction from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is reported to be extremely displeased. The Su-57 is touted by Russia as its most advanced fighter jet, though only a handful are operational within its air force.
