New school year, same tragic script in the United States. At least four people - two students and two teachers - died and nine were injured in the latest massacre in an American school that could have had a much more dramatic outcome if, according to initial reconstructions of the facts, the police intervention had not been timely.
This time fear was unleashed at Apalachee High School in Winder, near the city of Athens, before 10 a.m. when 14-year-old Colt Gray, a student at the school, opened fire, sowing panic and terror among the kids. Police and emergency services were called around 10:23 a.m. and the school was put on lockdown, as were all nearby school facilities. Live footage on American TV showed a strong police presence, as well as ambulances, while some students were gathered on the football field.
