Three men arrested in Corsica last week have been indicted in a significant case linked to organized crime, as confirmed by the Marseille prosecutor's office. The investigation, which commenced on February 26, has led to serious allegations against these individuals, highlighting the ongoing battle against organized criminal activities in the region.
The two primary suspects, Nicolas Coppolani and Florian Casamarte, were apprehended in Moltifao on July 25, while a third suspect, Michel Barraza, was arrested the following day. They face multiple charges including being heads of criminal associations and involvement in organized gang theft, as well as possession and transport of category C weapons.
According to the Marseille prosecutor's office, Coppolani and Casamarte have been placed in pre-trial detention, indicating the severity of the charges against them. Meanwhile, Barraza has been placed under judicial supervision, underscoring the serious nature of the allegations.
Sources close to the investigation suggest that these young men are believed to be henchmen for organized crime groups, potentially involved in various criminal acts including the theft of vehicles. This case sheds light on the persistent issues of organized crime that continue to challenge law enforcement agencies in Corsica and beyond.
