Al-Burhan Declares End of War in Sudan

During an economic conference held in Port Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Sudanese Army, announced that the war against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) is nearing its conclusion. Al-Burhan emphasized that there would be no negotiations or truce with what he termed the 'enemies of the people.' He firmly stated, 'This war is at its end,' and reiterated the need for a decisive victory over the RSF, which he claims poses a significant threat to Sudan's unity and sovereignty.

Rejection of Foreign Interference

Al-Burhan's speech also highlighted Sudan's stance against foreign interference in its internal matters. He rejected the recent British draft resolution presented to the United Nations Security Council, which called for an immediate ceasefire and protection of civilians. Al-Burhan argued that the resolution undermines Sudanese sovereignty and fails to condemn the supporters of the rebellion. He stated, 'We completely reject the National Congress Party holding a Shura Council meeting and will not accept any political action that threatens the unity of the country.'

Future Alliances and Military Strategy

Looking ahead, Al-Burhan indicated that Sudan's future alliances with regional and international countries would depend on the outcomes of the ongoing conflict. He asserted that the fighters engaged in the conflict do not belong to any political party, countering claims made by some political factions. The Sudanese army commander reiterated that negotiations or ceasefires would only be considered if they are tied to the complete withdrawal of the RSF from the territories they have occupied since the conflict began in April 2023.
