In a tragic incident in southwestern Pakistan, seven soldiers lost their lives during an attack by Baloch militants on a security post. The assault occurred early Saturday morning in the Qalat district, approximately 150 kilometers south of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. Reports indicate that the clash lasted several hours, with local officials stating that between 15 and 18 soldiers were injured and subsequently transported to hospitals.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a prominent Baloch separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack. According to a local official, around 40 to 50 gunmen were involved in the operation, which resulted in a prolonged exchange of gunfire. This incident marks a significant escalation in violence, as the BLA has intensified its activities in recent weeks, including a bombing at a railway station in Quetta that killed 27 people, including 19 soldiers.
