The third of the nine Jackson children has passed away. Toriano Adaryll, better known as Tito Jackson, died on Sunday, September 15 at the age of 70, Steve Manning, the family's former manager and longtime friend, announced to Entertainment Tonight.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being, sons Taj, Taryll and TJ wrote in an Instagram post shared last night.
While the cause of his death has not yet been revealed, Tito Jackson reportedly suffered a heart attack while on a road trip, according to Steve Manning. The artist had performed over the summer with his brothers Marlon and Jackie under the pseudonym The Jacksons. His last performance with the trio was last week in England.
Born October 15, 1953, the singer and guitarist was the third of Joe and Katherine Jackson's nine children. He gained international fame when he joined the family group The Jackson Five, alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. Founded in 1964, the boy band quickly became known with the songs I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save and I'll Be There. Tito was also inducted with the rest of the Jackson 5 into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
But Tito Jackson has also launched his solo career. He is notably the last member of the group to have released his solo album entitled Tito Time, a record he released in 2016. His children, Taj, Taryll and TJ, followed in their father's footsteps, forming the group 3T, with Tito as their manager.
