The production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Russia is set to increase nearly tenfold in 2023, according to President Vladimir Putin. During a meeting of the Military-Industrial Commission, Putin emphasized the importance of expanding the production and range of drones, highlighting that the Russian Armed Forces received 140,000 drones last year alone. He stated, 'This year, we plan to increase the production of drones several times over, or to be more precise, almost ten times.'
Putin outlined a strategic plan for the establishment of 48 specialized production centers across Russia by 2030, aimed at enhancing the serial production of UAVs. He acknowledged the need for these advancements while also addressing the importance of developing countermeasures against drones to protect military personnel and critical infrastructure. 'Along with the development of drones, we really need to look for means of their electronic and fire destruction,' he added.
The president also stressed the significance of integrating artificial intelligence into drone technology and called for collaboration between large defense companies and smaller businesses to maximize production capabilities. He noted that adapting quickly to battlefield demands is crucial, stating, 'Almost every week certain updates occur, and whoever reacts faster to these demands on the battlefield wins.'
