Putin’s Proposal for Ukraine Ceasefire: A Strategic Maneuver?
For a long time, peace negotiations in the Ukraine war seemed a remote possibility. However, recent developments suggest a shift as Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his willingness to hold talks—primarily to freeze the front line. According to high-ranking sources cited by Reuters, Putin is ready for a ceasefire if Ukraine agrees to cede the territories captured and occupied by Russia. This proposal includes the annexation of parts of eastern Ukraine and the retention of Crimea.
However, this proposition faces strong opposition from Ukrainian officials and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
