In a recent video conference, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to voters residing in border areas of Russia. Acknowledging the unique challenges faced by these regions, including terrorist attacks and external pressures, he praised the courage and spirit of the citizens who participated in the elections despite the adversities. Putin highlighted that their actions exemplified unity and resilience, stating, "Your courage and strength of spirit evoke sincere respect."
Emphasis on Addressing Local Needs
Putin underscored the importance of addressing the needs of the population in these regions. He urged elected leaders to tackle emerging issues promptly and without bureaucratic delays, reinforcing that the protection of citizens is the primary duty of the Russian army. The president's remarks come as he congratulated regional leaders on their electoral victories, noting the high level of public trust in their leadership. Elections Conducted Under Unique Conditions
The recent elections, held from September 6 to 8, included direct elections of governors in 21 regions and indirect elections in four regions. The Chairperson of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, remarked that this voting day was unprecedented, conducted under extreme conditions due to the ongoing military operations. She assured that measures were taken to ensure the safety of voters, emphasizing the significance of citizen participation in shaping the country's governance. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for Putin, echoed this sentiment, labeling the elections as exemplary and transparent, designed to insulate the political landscape from foreign influence.
