Nasser Al-Khelaïfi Denies Mohamed Salah Transfer Rumors
In recent days, speculation surrounding Mohamed Salah's potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has gained traction, fueled by various media outlets, including L'Equipe. However, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has firmly dismissed these rumors in an interview with Sky Sports Germany. He stated, "It's not true. He's a fantastic and incredible player, but we never considered signing him to be honest." Al-Khelaïfi emphasized that while many clubs would be interested in Salah, PSG has not pursued him.
PSG's Focus on Future Development
Al-Khelaïfi also addressed the club's broader strategy, highlighting their commitment to building a young and dynamic team. He noted that PSG boasts one of the youngest squads in Europe, with an average age of 22.5 years. "We are building a team for the future with our incredible coach, Luis Enrique," he said, reinforcing the club's long-term vision despite current pressures. Al-Khelaïfi expressed confidence in Enrique's abilities, calling him "the best coach in the world at the moment" and reaffirmed the club's focus on their ongoing project.
Winter Transfer Window Considerations
As the winter transfer window approaches, Al-Khelaïfi indicated that PSG remains open to exploring opportunities to strengthen their squad. He acknowledged the need for a left winger, particularly following the unsuccessful pursuit of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia last summer. "If there is an opportunity, we will explore it of course," he stated, while reiterating that the rumors regarding Salah are unfounded. Salah's contract with Liverpool is set to expire at the end of the season, and he has hinted at a possible departure, saying, "I'm probably closer to leaving than staying."
