Fraudulent schemes using remote access programs have become increasingly common, with three primary methods identified by VTB Bank. These scams, which account for 30-40% of all fraudulent attacks, involve impersonating officials from various organizations to gain victims' trust and access their personal information.
The first scheme involves fraudsters posing as State Services employees, convincing victims to install an application that grants access to their personal accounts. The second scheme targets individuals by pretending to be from Mosenergo, urging them to install an app for meter replacements or to provide confirmation codes. The third scheme utilizes WhatsApp, where fake buyers trick sellers into clicking phishing links, leading to blocked screens and exposed SMS codes.
Experts recommend several protective measures, including installing antivirus software, enabling caller ID, and staying within secure platforms during transactions. They emphasize the importance of vigilance, especially as fraudulent activities may increase during promotional seasons.
