The Role of Mascots in the Paris 2024 Olympics
“5, 6, 7 and off we go!” This Thursday in Pantin, the dancers responsible for animating the Phryges, the official mascots of the Paris Olympic Games, rehearse the choreography that they will be required to reproduce in the stadiums and competition venues. These mascots have been touring all over France, but during the Games, they will perform in the stadiums before the arrival of the athletes. Their mission will be to create a link with the public and to warm up the room. These 33 life-size Phryges will come to life thanks to professionals, recruited for the occasion.
The choreography itself, composed of several elements, was designed to adapt depending on the type of sport, as well as the location. Dancing in this outfit remains a challenge: each mascot will constantly move with a partner, responsible for ensuring its safety.
Ensuring Safety and Quality of Olympic Merchandise
T-shirt, mug, key ring, cap, tote bag, bath towel... The shelves of the official store of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are filled with souvenirs. The mascot, a triangular plush toy, remains the star attraction. However, the craze for the cuddly toy does not escape the vigilance of inspectors from the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF).
This Wednesday morning, they carried out a “punch” operation in four official Games stores to guarantee the safety of industrial items and verify the conformity of the products sold. Nearly 120 agents out of 3,000 are already mobilized by the fraud inspection for the control of derivative products. Since the beginning of the year, the public administration has visited 2,600 establishments that manufacture these products.
Fashion Takes Center Stage at the Opening Ceremony
Looks like Fashion Week in Paris. Friday, July 26, athletes from around the world will parade in outfits in the colors of their country during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games. Mongolia's uniform, recently revealed, won over many Internet users who made it known on social networks. The traditionally inspired clothing was designed by the Michel&Amazonka brand and unveiled on July 3 in an official video.
For their part, the French athletes will be dressed by the luxury brand Beruti. The costumes, designed in collaboration with Carine Roitfeld, are midnight blue with a blue, white, and red patinated collar. On the left pocket, a small Olympic flame and the Games logo. The objective was to “combine elegance and comfort,” explained Vanessa Le Goff, collection director at Berluti.
