Over 300,000 Russian Servicemen Trained for Special Military Operations
In 2024, more than 300,000 Russian servicemen have completed training in reserve regiments, preparing contract soldiers for participation in the ongoing special military operation (SVO). This significant milestone was reported by Krasnaya Zvezda, citing Ivan Buvaltsev, Chief of the Main Directorate of Combat Training of the Russian Armed Forces. The training aimed to enhance the military-professional level of soldiers, ensuring better coherence among crews, units, and command bodies to successfully execute combat missions.
The training programs were developed based on an analysis of combat experiences from the SVO, integrating new methods and approaches into the educational process. Buvaltsev emphasized the effectiveness of the training system, stating that serious successes have been achieved within the reserve regiments. He noted that seven companies of instructors and eight training companies were established specifically for this purpose, contributing to the training of over 300,000 servicemen.
Focus on Individual and Specialized Training
The training regimen has shifted focus towards individual training, covering various disciplines such as fire, tactical, engineering training, tactical medicine, and specialized training based on military registration specialties. Buvaltsev highlighted the increasing relevance of training assault units, particularly in light of the Russian army's offensive strategies. Training exercises are conducted using models that replicate enemy positions, enhancing the preparedness of the troops.
Additionally, a comprehensive training system for soldiers across various branches, including the Navy, Aerospace Forces, Strategic Missile Forces, and Airborne Forces, has been implemented. Special emphasis has been placed on training UAV operators and developing strategies to counter drone threats, reflecting the evolving nature of modern warfare.
Increased Recruitment and Financial Incentives
In late November, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, reported a surge in citizens signing contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense to join military service. He noted that hundreds of individuals are signing contracts daily to participate in the special military operation, with a strong emphasis on thorough training before deployment. Peskov reassured that there are currently no plans for mobilization in Russia.
In a related development, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree extending a one-time cash payment of 400,000 rubles to individuals who enter into a contract for military service with the Russian National Guard between August 1 and December 31, 2024. This financial incentive aims to encourage more citizens to join the military efforts associated with the special operation.
