Olivier Sichel Appointed Interim CEO of Caisse des Dépôts
Olivier Sichel has been appointed as the interim CEO of the Caisse des Dépôts (CDC) following Éric Lombard's transition to the role of Minister of Economy and Finance in the newly formed Bayrou government. Sichel, who previously served as Deputy CEO and Director of the Banque des Territoires, will oversee the daily operations of the CDC and continue to manage ongoing strategic projects. The CDC expressed gratitude to Lombard for his leadership and vision during his tenure, which began in late 2017.
Éric Lombard's Journey to the Ministry of Economy
Éric Lombard, a relatively lesser-known figure in the public eye, has a rich background in both politics and banking. His political career began in the 1990s with the Socialist Party, where he served as a ministerial advisor under various administrations. After a brief hiatus from politics following the left's defeat in 1993, Lombard returned to the banking sector, eventually leading BNP Paribas Cardif and Generali France before taking the helm at the CDC. His appointment as Minister of Economy marks a significant shift, as he is the first leader of the CDC not to come from the senior civil service. Lombard's previous work has focused on addressing economic imbalances and advocating for reforms that benefit a broader range of stakeholders.
