New Couple Joins 'Scènes de Ménages' for Fifteenth Season
The popular French TV series 'Scènes de Ménages' is set to return for its fifteenth season with a fresh twist. The M6 daily comedy will introduce a new couple, Élodie Poux and Majid Berhila, who will portray grocers working together in the mountains. According to Guillaume Charles, general director of programs at M6, the chemistry between the two actors was instantaneous, promising a new dynamic that wasn't present with previous couples.
Élodie Poux, a well-known comedian whose show 'The Butterfly Syndrome' garnered 1.2 million viewers on W9 in April 2023, will play one half of the new couple. Majid Berhila, her fictional husband, is also a comedian, recognized for his work on 'On n'demande qu'en riz' and his collaborations with Kev Adams. The new couple will be seen juggling their professional and personal lives, living above their grocery store in the mid-mountains.
Departure of Christine and Gilbert
As the new couple arrives, fans will bid farewell to Christine and Gilbert, played by Fanny Cottençon and Didier Bénureau. The sixty-year-old couple, who joined the show in January 2023, will exit due to scheduling conflicts. Their departure marks the end of their short-lived but memorable presence on the show.
New Adventures for Existing Characters
The upcoming season will also bring new storylines for the existing characters. Raymond (Gérard Hernandez) will meet a new home help who isn't afraid to speak her mind, while José (Frédéric Bouraly) will enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle following a health scare. Additionally, Camille (Amélie Etasse) will open a wellness center, and Emma (Anne-Elisabeth Blateau) and Fabien (David Mora) will expand their family with the arrival of twins.
Despite the excitement surrounding the new season, 'Scènes de Ménages' has faced a decline in viewership, recording its lowest ratings since its inception in 2009. The series averaged 2.54 million viewers, a loss of 400,000 from the previous year. Market shares also fell, with a noticeable drop among women responsible for purchases under fifty. M6 hopes that the introduction of new characters and storylines will rejuvenate the series and attract more viewers.
