On Saturday, President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet expressed her concerns regarding the exclusion of the National Rally (RN) from the Assembly's office, deeming it 'not normal.' She emphasized the importance of ensuring that every political force is represented, stating that the voice of the RN would still be heard in the Assembly's institutions. Despite the RN's significant voter base, they were left without any positions in the Assembly's executive body, which comprises 22 members. Braun-Pivet acknowledged the need for political dialogue and urged parties to collaborate to avoid a 'blocked Assembly.'
The RN, led by Marine Le Pen, criticized the distribution of key positions within the Assembly, claiming it reflects a disregard for the 11 million voters who supported them. Le Pen described the current situation as a 'lawless zone,' highlighting the stark contrast in representation compared to the previous year. The left-wing coalition, the New Popular Front, emerged with an absolute majority in the office, while the RN was left without any vice-presidential roles, a significant decline from their previous standing in 2022. The political landscape remains tense as various factions seek to negotiate their influence.
