In a recent controversy, Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan faced backlash after releasing his video clip 'Taurus,' where he imitates the late President Mohamed Anwar Sadat's speech style while smoking a pipe. This portrayal has sparked significant criticism, leading to a parliamentary request for action against him. MP Karim Talaat El Sadat, a relative of the former president, has called for measures to be taken, arguing that Ramadan's imitation disrespects a national symbol deserving of reverence. Furthermore, an Egyptian lawyer has lodged a complaint with the Attorney General, accusing Ramadan of exploiting Sadat's character for personal gain without honoring his legacy.
Despite the backlash, Ramadan defended his actions, stating that he holds great respect for Sadat and has a friendly relationship with the Sadat family. He highlighted that Noha Sadat, the daughter of the late president, appreciated the video, indicating that there was no intention to offend. Ramadan's clip 'Taurus' has garnered around 250,000 views on YouTube within two days, although it received limited engagement on Instagram.
