A supersonic start launched him full speed towards victory. This Saturday, the Spaniard Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing) won the sprint race of the Grand Prix of Aragon with a huge lead of almost four seconds. Starting from pole position after setting the best time in qualifying, he started on the right side of the track and took the opportunity to drop Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
The Italian, who was leading the general classification before the race and is the reigning double world champion, completely missed his start and quickly found himself behind the leaders. In traffic, he made several mistakes and finally had to settle for ninth place in this sprint race. This allowed Jorge Martin (Pramac Racing) to regain the championship lead. The Spaniard finished the sprint behind Marc Marquez.
On the French side, Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) took advantage of a good start and delayed braking at the first corner to gain places in the pack. The French rider, world champion in the discipline in 2021, finished the sprint in eighth place after battling for a long time to overtake Francesco Bagnaia.
Johann Zarco (Honda) fell on the first lap of the race. As did Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) for whom this sprint race ended a few meters after the start.
