Shocking Murder in Paris Over Cell Phone Theft
A 44-year-old man has been indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention following a tragic incident in Paris. The suspect is accused of killing Tarek, a Tunisian man in his thirties, after an altercation over a cell phone. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, July 11, at a bar on rue d'Avron in the 20th arrondissement.
The confrontation began when Tarek accused another patron of stealing his phone, which he had left on the counter of the bistro while he went to the toilet. Upon discovering his phone missing, Tarek noticed it in the pocket of another man, leading to a heated argument. Witnesses reported that Tarek hurled insults at the accused thief, who then left the bar.
Suspect Returns with a Knife
The suspect returned approximately ten minutes later, armed with a knife, and attacked Tarek, stabbing him in the chest. Despite his severe injuries, Tarek managed to stand up and walk a few steps before collapsing. He was later pronounced dead at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital.
The suspect was arrested late Monday following an investigation by the 2nd district of the Paris judicial police. He has also been indicted for attempted theft. During his police custody, the suspect remained silent, and his lawyers have yet to comment on the case. The investigation continues to uncover more details about the incident and the suspect's motives.
