Marseille's Resurgence in Ligue 1 Standings

Olympique de Marseille (OM) has bounced back impressively in the Ligue 1 standings following a challenging defeat in the Clasico against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). With a 2-1 victory over Nantes at the Beaujoire, Marseille secured its position as the runner-up in the league, overtaking AS Monaco and Lille. The win, marked by goals from Neal Maupay and Mason Greenwood, came after a tough week for the team, allowing them to regain confidence and momentum.

Mason Greenwood, who has been a standout performer for Marseille this season, scored the decisive goal in the 61st minute, bringing his tally to seven goals since joining from Manchester United. This victory not only boosts Marseille's morale but also places them firmly in the title race, trailing PSG by six points. PSG maintained their lead with a narrow 1-0 win over Lens, solidifying their position at the top of the table.

Current Ligue 1 Standings

As of now, the Ligue 1 standings reflect the competitive nature of the league:

  1. PSG - 26 points
  2. Marseille - 20 points
  3. Monaco - 20 points
  4. Lille - 18 points
  5. Nice - 16 points
  6. Lyon - 15 points

Nice also made strides this week, achieving a second consecutive victory with a 1-0 win over Brest, placing them fifth in the standings. On the other end of the table, Le Havre remains in a precarious position, sitting second to last despite their recent win against Montpellier, who are at the bottom of the league.
