Layvin Kurzawa's Departure from PSG

After nine seasons at PSG, Layvin Kurzawa is set to leave the club when his contract ends in the summer of 2024. The French international, who arrived in Paris in 2015, faced numerous challenges during his tenure, including injuries and periods of being benched. Despite these setbacks, Kurzawa was unexpectedly offered a four-year contract extension in 2020, which he accepted for the sake of stability and the opportunity to regain his place in the team.

Unexpected Contract Extension and Future Plans

In a recent interview with Carré media, Kurzawa expressed his confusion over the contract extension, revealing that he was on the verge of transferring to Juventus when PSG made the offer. 'I didn’t understand this extension either. The jet was ready for Turin, and my old agent called me to tell me that Paris wanted to extend me for four years,' he said. Despite the lucrative offer, Kurzawa now reflects that he might have made a different decision if given the chance.

Kurzawa also disclosed that PSG tried to transfer him to Real Salt Lake in the United States in January, but he declined due to family reasons. As his contract nears its end, he has made it clear that he no longer wishes to play in Ligue 1, citing a negative public image and a desire to explore opportunities abroad. 'France, for me, I really put an end to it. I know the image people have of me in France. This is not the right image,' he stated.

Looking ahead, Kurzawa is eager to continue his football career and has received interest from clubs in Spain, the Emirates, and the United States. He emphasized that his salary demands would not be a barrier for potential suitors, as his primary goal is to enjoy playing football again.

  • Layvin Kurzawa's time at PSG has been marked by significant highs and lows. Initially joining the club with great promise, his career was hindered by injuries and inconsistent playing time. Despite these challenges, the unexpected contract extension in 2020 provided him with financial stability and a chance to re-establish himself.
  • As he prepares to leave PSG, Kurzawa reflects on his journey and the decisions he made along the way. His determination to continue playing football and his openness to international opportunities highlight his enduring passion for the sport. With interest from various clubs, Kurzawa's next move will be closely watched by football enthusiasts around the world.
