Khamenei's Accusations Against Syria's Neighbor
In a recent statement, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei accused an unnamed neighboring country of playing a significant role in the efforts to overthrow the regime of ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Khamenei claimed to possess "indisputable evidence" that the events in Syria were orchestrated in an American and Israeli operations room, although he did not provide any concrete evidence to support this assertion. He emphasized that the resistance against such actions has not diminished and will continue to grow stronger across the region.
Khamenei's remarks come amid ongoing discussions within Iran regarding the implications of Assad's fall. The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Salami, stated in a closed parliamentary session that Iran's influence has not waned despite the loss of its ally in Syria. Salami reaffirmed that the overthrow of Israel remains a priority for Iran, indicating that the geopolitical landscape in the Middle East continues to be a focal point for Iranian leadership.
Following Assad's fall, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has called for a national dialogue in Syria to establish a government that reflects the diverse segments of Syrian society. Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani asserted that it is ultimately the Syrian people who must determine their own future.
