A Decade of Growth and Recognition

Over the past decade, the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction has established itself as a prestigious award, showcasing the vibrancy of the Arab literary scene. This year, the festival celebrates the 10th anniversary of the award, which has seen a remarkable increase in participation—from 700 entries in its inaugural session to 1,800 this year. The festival also introduced new categories, including historical novels and a special focus on Qatari literature.

Honoring Literary Contributions

The festival's opening ceremony featured a unique performance titled “Symphony of the Novel,” a collaboration between the Katara Foundation and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. The event also honored Moroccan writer Al-Tahami Al-Wazzani as the Personality of the Year, recognizing his significant contributions to the development of the Arabic novel.
