Military expert Brigadier General Hassan Jouni has characterized the recent Israeli raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut as a strategy of military and psychological pressure aimed at Hezbollah and Lebanese society. The raids, which resulted in the deaths of six Lebanese individuals, including a local official, targeted key municipal buildings in the region, including the Nabatieh Municipality.
Jouni refuted Israeli claims regarding the existence of Hezbollah weapons depots in the southern suburbs, questioning why Israel had not acted sooner if such depots existed. He emphasized that the Israeli military's actions appear to focus on destruction rather than specific military targets, as evidenced by the targeting of an official building.
The Israeli army has reported striking numerous Hezbollah targets in the Nabatieh area, claiming to dismantle what it describes as 'underground infrastructure.' The military presence in southern Lebanon has escalated, with approximately 40,000 Israeli soldiers engaged in operations supported by air, land, and sea forces, while Hezbollah continues to employ defensive strategies against these incursions.
