The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that 11 martyrs were killed in the Israeli occupation forces’ invasion of the northern West Bank, which began at dawn on Wednesday. Reports indicate that these individuals were resistance fighters targeted by drone strikes during a broad military operation in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Tubas. This operation, termed “Camps Summer” by the Israeli army, marks the largest military campaign in the region since Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, involving extensive use of air support and ground forces.
The Al-Quds Brigades, representing the Islamic Jihad Movement, have vowed to retaliate, referring to the ongoing conflict as “the horror of the camps.” They emphasize that their fighters are prepared to make the Israeli forces experience significant resistance. The operation has raised concerns regarding the displacement of Palestinians, especially in densely populated areas, with Israeli officials suggesting possible organized evacuations.
In response to the military actions, various Palestinian factions, including Hamas and the Al-Quds Brigades, have reported engaging in fierce confrontations with Israeli troops. These clashes have been characterized by the use of explosive devices and direct assaults on military vehicles. The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties on both sides, with over 640 Palestinians reported killed and thousands wounded since the escalation began in October 2022.
