Escalating Violence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip
The Israeli occupation forces have intensified their operations in the West Bank, carrying out multiple raids and demolition activities. In the city of Jenin, armed clashes erupted between Palestinian resistance fighters and Israeli forces. The Jenin Brigade and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades confirmed their involvement in these confrontations.
Demolition and Settlement Expansion
In addition to the violent clashes, the Israeli forces conducted demolition operations in several areas. In the village of Bitello near Ramallah, they demolished a house citing the lack of a permit. Similar actions were taken in Jericho and Musafer Yatta, where homes and facilities were destroyed. The head of the village council in Umm Al-Khair described these actions as a 'settlement massacre,' reflecting the recent Israeli government decisions on settlement expansion.
Air Strikes in Gaza Strip
The violence is not confined to the West Bank. In the Gaza Strip, an Israeli airstrike on the Shati refugee camp resulted in the death of Ismail Haniyeh's sister, along with 15 others. The strikes targeted two schools managed by the UNRWA, causing significant casualties. This escalation has drawn condemnation from various Palestinian factions and calls for international intervention.
- The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has condemned the recent escalations, stating that the demolition of homes and facilities is part of a broader 'criminal war' against Palestinians. They have called on the international community and the United Nations to take immediate action to halt these violations.
- In another incident, settlers in the West Bank have been reported to provoke Palestinians by raiding homes and taking control of resources, such as water from the Auja spring. These actions have further fueled tensions in the region.
- The Israeli occupation army has also announced the arrest of Ammar Nasrallah from the Tulkarm refugee camp, accusing him of being responsible for a shooting at the Bat Hefer settlement.
