On Friday morning, the Israeli army withdrew from areas in Tal al-Hawa and Al-Sinaa Street in Gaza City after a military operation that lasted seven days. The Gaza Civil Defense quickly moved in to retrieve the bodies of martyrs. Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal reported that the number of martyrs in the Tal al-Hawa and industrial area reached approximately 60 after the occupation ended.
The Civil Defense in Gaza revealed that dozens of martyrs’ bodies were scattered in the alleys and inside the homes, with entire families martyred in the industrial area. Charred bodies and completely burned homes were found, and citizens who went to obtain food supplies were killed. Three martyrs from one family were recovered in the Industrial Square, west of Gaza City.
Basal emphasized that the Israeli army set fire to homes and facilities before withdrawing. The Civil Defense crews had to reach the area on foot due to the destruction of infrastructure and lack of fuel. Before retreating, the Israeli forces blew up residential buildings in Tal al-Hawa, and snipers remained deployed in surrounding areas, targeting individuals attempting to return home.
The Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, was declared a disaster area after the Israeli army’s withdrawal following a two-week military operation. Around 60 bodies were discovered under the rubble, with 85% of the buildings in the neighborhood rendered uninhabitable. Tens of thousands of people were forced to flee.
The violent bombardment of the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza has continued, with Israeli artillery targeting the Al-Mughraqa area and north of the camp. Three Palestinians were killed in the bombing of a house in the Mufti’s land, and additional casualties were reported in Khan Yunis and Rafah due to Israeli airstrikes.
Since October 7, Israel has waged a devastating war on Gaza with American support, resulting in over 126,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women. The war was triggered by an unprecedented attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement on Israeli soil, leading to the death of 1,195 people on the Israeli side. The retaliation has left Gaza in ruins, with massive destruction and famine claiming the lives of dozens of children.
- The situation in Gaza remains dire as the Israeli occupation continues to exert its military might over the region. The Civil Defense's efforts to retrieve bodies and provide aid are hampered by the extensive destruction of infrastructure and lack of resources.
- The international community has called for an end to the violence, urging both sides to come to a peaceful resolution. However, the ongoing conflict has left countless families devastated, with many losing their homes and loved ones.
- Humanitarian organizations are working tirelessly to provide relief to those affected, but the scale of the devastation is overwhelming. The need for food, medical supplies, and shelter is critical as the people of Gaza endure this relentless conflict.
