Iran's Call for Unified Response Against Israel
In a recent statement, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned Israel's actions in the region, labeling them as genocide. Following a series of violent Israeli raids in southern and eastern Lebanon that resulted in over 500 casualties, Pezeshkian urged Islamic nations to unite against Israel to prevent further atrocities similar to those witnessed in Gaza. He emphasized that a collective voice from the Islamic world could deter Israel's aggressions.
Pezeshkian expressed his concerns during an interview with Al Jazeera, criticizing European nations and the United States for their continued support of Israel despite the ongoing violence. He stated that Israel has failed to achieve its objectives in Gaza, particularly in its attempts to dismantle the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and is now looking to escalate the conflict across the Middle East. According to him, the only outcome of Israel's actions in Gaza has been widespread destruction and a blockade on humanitarian aid.
Iran's Stance on Nuclear Agreement
In the same discussion, President Pezeshkian clarified Iran's position regarding its nuclear program. He stated that Iran does not seek conflict with any nation and remains committed to the nuclear agreement it signed. Pezeshkian reassured that the weapons and missiles developed by Iran are solely for self-defense against potential attacks, particularly from Israel. He expressed disappointment over the lack of goodwill from the United States in resuming dialogue, noting that the U.S. has not fulfilled its commitments under the nuclear deal.
Pezeshkian's remarks highlight Iran's strategic focus on self-defense while calling for solidarity among Islamic countries to counter perceived threats from Israel. His statements reflect a broader regional concern about the implications of ongoing violence and the need for a coordinated response to safeguard human rights in the region.
