The IDF has successfully completed its operation in Khan Yunis, eliminating over 250 terrorists and recovering the bodies of six hostages. This decisive action aims to restore stability in the Gaza Strip and ensure the safety of its residents.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the successful completion of their operation in Khan Yunis and Deir al-Balah, located in the southern Gaza Strip, after a month of intense military engagement. During this operation, the forces of the 98th Division neutralized over 250 terrorists and destroyed six significant underground tunnels, totaling approximately 6 kilometers in length.

The IDF spokesperson highlighted that this operation was crucial in dismantling terrorist infrastructures utilized by Hamas, including residences and weapon storage facilities. Combat units, particularly the 7th Brigade and paratroopers, collaborated closely with the Yalam unit to execute these missions effectively. Notably, they conducted operations in densely populated areas, which involved navigating high-rise buildings and crowded neighborhoods.

One of the operation's most poignant outcomes was the recovery of the bodies of six hostages who had been abducted by Hamas. This recovery brought closure to many families who had been anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones. The identified individuals included Yagav Buchstab, Alexander Danzig, and Avraham Munder, among others.

Following the successful conclusion of the operation, the IDF has urged residents displaced from their homes to return to specific blocks that have been cleared of terrorist activities. The spokesperson emphasized that the military will continue to maintain vigilance and readiness for any future challenges in the region.

  • The operation was marked by fierce confrontations, particularly in populated areas, where IDF forces faced significant resistance from terrorist groups. The strategic destruction of tunnels and military bases was essential to thwart potential attacks by Hamas and other militant organizations in the region.
  • The IDF's call for Gazan residents to return is part of a broader effort to stabilize the area following military operations. This initiative aims to restore normalcy and provide humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict.
