Hezbollah's Stance on Israeli Aggression
In a recent speech, Naim Qassem, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, emphasized the group's determination to confront Israeli military actions in Lebanon. He asserted that Hezbollah's primary focus is to prevent Israel from achieving its objectives, declaring that the group's missiles and aircraft are capable of reaching every part of Israel. Qassem articulated that the resistance's strength lies in its unwavering commitment to its Islamic doctrine, the sacrifices of its fighters, and its preparedness to engage in conflict against the Israeli occupation.
Israel's Military Capabilities and Strategy
Qassem acknowledged Israel's military prowess, which includes advanced air power, a robust communications network, and substantial support from the United States. He accused Israel of waging an aggressive war aimed at eliminating Hezbollah and occupying Lebanon, drawing parallels to the situation in the West Bank. The Hezbollah leader indicated that the current conflict is not merely political but fundamentally tied to military engagement, asserting that the battlefield is where the aggression must be challenged.
Call for Accountability and Future Negotiations
In his remarks, Qassem also called for accountability regarding recent incidents involving Israeli forces, urging the Lebanese army to clarify the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of a citizen by an Israeli naval commando. He highlighted the role of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in these matters. Furthermore, he expressed that political resistance, led by the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, could pave the way for negotiations once Israel opts to cease its aggression. Qassem's speech coincided with the fortieth anniversary of the assassination of former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, marking a significant moment in the group's history.
