The Palestinian Red Crescent has raised alarms over the dire situation of healthcare in the Gaza Strip as critical hospitals face imminent closure due to fuel shortages. Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia is on the brink of shutting down within hours, while Al Awda Hospital has already issued similar warnings.
The ongoing Israeli bombardment has exacerbated the crisis, leading to a collapse of the healthcare system. Hospitals are struggling with severe shortages of doctors, medicines, and fuel, with surgical operations halted at the Kuwaiti Hospital in Rafah. This situation poses a significant threat to the lives of the sick and injured in the region.
Prior to the conflict, Gaza had a functioning health system with 35 hospitals serving its population. However, the relentless attacks have destroyed much of the healthcare infrastructure, creating a humanitarian disaster that demands immediate attention.
