Rising Casualties in Gaza Amid Ongoing Israeli Airstrikes
The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has escalated dramatically as Israeli air and artillery bombardments continue to inflict heavy casualties among the Palestinian population. On Saturday, four Palestinians were reported killed, with 11 others injured due to targeted strikes in the vicinity of the Nuseirat camp. The Ministry of Health in Gaza has condemned these attacks, stating that in just 48 hours, Israeli forces have committed four massacres resulting in 52 martyrs and 118 wounded individuals being admitted to local hospitals.
The alarming toll of violence since October 7 has now reached a staggering 41,586 martyrs and 96,210 wounded, highlighting the severe impact of ongoing hostilities. Reports from Al-Awda Hospital indicate that two individuals lost their lives due to a direct strike on a residential area, while another was killed in artillery shelling targeting a civilian gathering on Salah Al-Din Street. Additional casualties were reported from northeastern Maghazi camp, where further artillery attacks occurred.
The previous day, Friday, saw a tragic increase in fatalities, with 10 Palestinians, including two children, killed during similar air and artillery assaults across central and southern Gaza. Areas such as the Nuseirat camps, Al-Fakhari town, and Rafah have been particularly hard-hit, with the relentless bombardment causing widespread destruction and suffering. Reports indicate that the Israeli military has also conducted raids in various neighborhoods, contributing to the rising death toll and injuries.
Despite the overwhelming loss of life, the international community remains largely silent as Israel continues its military operations with full American support. The ongoing conflict has resulted in more than 137,000 casualties, including those missing and presumed dead, amidst a backdrop of catastrophic humanitarian conditions characterized by widespread famine and destruction. In defiance of a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and the International Court of Justice's directives aimed at preventing genocide, Israel persists in its military campaign, exacerbating the dire situation in Gaza.
