Rising Casualties in Gaza Amid Ongoing Conflict
The situation in the Gaza Strip remains dire as medical sources report that 28 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on November 19, 2024. This escalation comes as the Israeli occupation continues its siege of northern Gaza for the 46th consecutive day. Al Jazeera's correspondent detailed that among the casualties, eight individuals lost their lives when a house near the electricity company in Beit Lahia was targeted. Additionally, three more were killed in a bombardment east of the Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has condemned these actions, stating that the Israeli forces committed three massacres in the past 24 hours, resulting in a total of 50 martyrs and over 110 injuries. This brings the total death toll since the onset of the conflict on October 7, 2023, to a staggering 43,972, with more than 104,000 individuals reported wounded. The ongoing violence has led to urgent calls from residents for international intervention to facilitate the transport of the injured and recovery of the deceased, particularly in areas heavily bombarded like Jabalia and Beit Lahia.
Israeli Military Casualties and Ongoing Operations
In response to the escalating violence, the Israeli military has reported injuries among its ranks, with 11 soldiers wounded in the last 24 hours. Cumulatively, since the conflict began, 5,381 Israeli soldiers have sustained injuries across Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank. The Israeli army's latest figures indicate that 798 soldiers have been killed since the start of the war, including 376 during ground operations in Gaza that commenced on October 27, 2023. The military has not disclosed the specific locations of the injuries sustained in the latest clashes, which continue to unfold in both Gaza and southern Lebanon.
As the conflict persists, the humanitarian situation in Gaza worsens, with hospitals overwhelmed by the influx of casualties and urgent needs for medical supplies and assistance.
