French Team's 'Dream Training' Brings Joy Despite Rain
This past weekend was filled with many memorable moments as the French national football team engaged in the “Dream Training” initiative with enthusiastic children. Despite the weather not being on their side, this event turned out to be an unforgettable experience for the young participants. For around twenty minutes, the young boys and girls, dressed in official national team attire, participated in various football workshops involving passing, dribbling, and shooting. Notable among the players was Kylian Mbappé who wholeheartedly joined in, while Ibrahima Konaté motivated his young protégé throughout the drills.
The enthusiasm and passion displayed by the children were met with equal zeal from the players. For instance, Marcus Thuram couldn't hide his delight as he praised a young player's perfect outside right foot shot, comparing it to Luka Modric’s technique. The session concluded with the players taking photographs and signing autographs, leaving the children with memories that will last a lifetime. 'It’s always a nice, pleasant moment, despite the rain,' remarked Guy Stéphan, assistant coach to Didier Deschamps.
Following the memorable “Dream Training” session, the French team shifted their focus to their own training, which was also open to the public. Although the session was likely shortened due to rain, it saw a high turnout from fans. The outfield players warmed up and participated in ball retention exercises, with N'Golo Kanté standing out for his impressive fitness levels early in preparations for Euro 2024.
On Friday, the training sessions intensified, and good news poured in concerning the fitness of key players Kingsley Coman and Mike Maignan. Coman, recently back from an adductor injury, displayed great enthusiasm, taking part in group training after nearly two months of individual rehab. Meanwhile, Maignan who had a finger injury last week, seemed to have no discomfort during his specific goalkeeper drills. Both players' return to form is a positive sign for the team, boosting morale ahead of future challenges.
The training sessions continued under light rain, with detailed routines, including stretching and oppositions. The players were divided into teams with strict instructions to limit themselves to three touches during the opposition phase. The intensity was palpable, and the session concluded with the yellows celebrating their victory by chanting 'Too easy! Too easy!' in high spirits.
- Late Saturday morning, before the 'Dream Training' operation, two players will likely appear in front of the press to discuss their experiences and preparation strategies.
- The French team's open training sessions are part of their broader strategy to engage with fans and build strong community support ahead of major tournaments.
