Tragic Lightning Strike Claims Life of Beloved Football Coach
In a devastating turn of events, Jordan Denneulin, a 30-year-old football coach, was struck by lightning during a training session at the small Courrières stadium near Lens, Pas-de-Calais. The incident occurred on Thursday, May 23, as players were beginning their evening session under what initially seemed to be 'warm and beautiful' weather. The weather, however, deteriorated rapidly, forcing the players to halt their training. Before all players could reach the locker room, lightning struck, with Jordan being the most severely affected and multiple other victims thrown to the ground, according to Evelyne Bauduin, president of the Artois football district.

Jordan, a devoted partner to Jessica and father to a young boy, had dedicated himself to the AS Courrières football club since 2015. Known for his passion for football and RC Lens, Jordan was not only a player but also an educator responsible for the under-13s team at the club. In honor of his memory, a white march is organized for Sunday, May 26, by the AS Courrières. Participants are urged to wear white outfits or RC Lens jerseys. His funeral is set to take place on Wednesday, May 29, at Saint-Henri Church in Hénin-Beaumont.
