Tragic Explosions in Italy Result in Fatalities and Injuries
In a devastating incident in the Garfagnana region of Italy, an explosion believed to be caused by a gas leak led to the death of a couple and left several others injured. The explosion occurred around 11 PM in a villa located in Sassi, Molazzana, resulting in a fire that destroyed the house. The body of Seetoh Kwok Meng, 69, was recovered from the rubble, while his partner, Chang Kai En, 52, remains missing. Emergency services, including Urban Search and Rescue specialists, are continuing their search efforts with over 20 rescuers involved.
In a separate incident, three individuals were seriously injured in an explosion at a villa on the border between Parma and Sorbolo, also suspected to be due to a gas leak. The explosion caused the partial collapse of the building, with three people hospitalized, including a 28-year-old from Mali and two others from the Ivory Coast. Fortunately, none of the injured are reported to be in critical condition.
Family Tragedy in Argentina: Policeman Commits Murder-Suicide
In a shocking event in Monte Quemado, Santiago del Estero, Argentina, a police officer, Nicolás Ábalos, shot and killed his one-year-old daughter and ex-mother-in-law before injuring three other relatives and ultimately taking his own life. The incident unfolded after midnight when Ábalos allegedly chased his ex-partner, Lorena Navarro, who was attempting to leave with their child. Witnesses reported that Ábalos entered his in-laws' home with two loaded weapons, leading to a tragic shootout that resulted in the deaths of his daughter and ex-mother-in-law, as well as serious injuries to his ex-partner and ex-father-in-law.
The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, as the motives remain unclear. Both Navarro and her father have undergone successful surgeries and are recovering, while the couple's son, who was also injured, is reported to be in stable condition and will be discharged soon.
